FAQ

A few common questions

Getting Started

What is the Client Journey?

It’s the three-phase system Cascadia Home Wellness is built around: a walkthrough and proposal, two to four foundation visits, and ongoing personalized maintenance. See the full Client Journey →

How do I get started with cleaning?

The first step for recurring maintenance is Phase 1 of the Client Journey: an in-home walkthrough and conversation about your household, your home, and what matters most to you. Afterward, you’ll receive a personalized proposal before any service is scheduled.

What happens after I submit a Studio inquiry?

I'll follow up to learn a little more about what you need and determine which kind of support would be most useful. Studio consultations can begin with a brief conversation by email or phone, and in-person or virtual appointments are available.

Do you provide free estimates?

Yes. Walkthroughs for recurring home maintenance are complimentary and help ensure that the proposed service, schedule, and pricing accurately reflect your home. Studio consultations, including the Lower-Tox Product Review and Personalized Home-Care Plan, are separate paid services.

Do you work alone?

Yes. I’m a solo cleaner, so you’ll have the same person in your home every visit. No rotating team, no re-explaining your preferences to someone new.

What areas do you serve?

SW & Inner SE Portland, NW Hills, and nearby suburbs including Tigard, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Tualatin, and West Linn. This service area applies to in-home cleaning and in-person consultations; virtual Studio consultations are available regardless of location. See the map below for the full picture, or just ask if you’re not sure.

Services

What’s included in recurring maintenance?

Once the foundation phase is complete, core cleaning is completed throughout the included areas of your home every visit, including surface cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, kitchen and bathroom care, and light resetting of already-cleared spaces. Detailed areas such as baseboards, cabinet fronts, vents, and trim receive periodic attention according to your home’s maintenance plan. The goal is a home that remains consistently well cared for over time.

What happens during the first few recurring visits?

Recurring care begins with a few foundation visits, usually two to four. I keep agreed priority areas, most often the kitchen and primary bathroom, cared for while using the remaining time to work through deeper cleaning section by section. I may not reach every room during each initial visit. These visits are priced at your regular rate plus $100, and the extra $100 ends once the home reaches a maintainable baseline.

Do you offer one-time cleanings?

Yes. Small Space Deep Cleaning and Move-In & Move-Out Cleaning are the two standalone, one-time cleaning services I offer. Small Space Deep Cleaning is a detailed cleaning of one or two rooms or a clearly defined area, designed for a bathroom, kitchen area, primary suite, or another contained space requiring concentrated attention. Move-In & Move-Out Cleaning is a more extensive service for a completely empty home, preparing it for a new arrival or final handoff. Pricing for Small Space Deep Cleaning is based on the actual scope: a single bathroom starts around $120, while a kitchen or a multi-room project typically runs higher, often $320–$450 for a kitchen and bathroom combined. Move-In & Move-Out Cleaning starts at $240. Full-home recurring care begins with a few foundation visits rather than a separate one-time deep clean.

Why do your visits sometimes take longer than other cleaning services?

Cleaning styles vary. My approach is intentionally thorough rather than speed-focused, so I pay attention to details that are easy to overlook: grout, corners, behind toilets, cobwebs, trim, fixtures, and buildup on less-obvious surfaces. Some of what I include as ongoing maintenance may be considered deep cleaning elsewhere. That level of detail takes more time, but it also helps prevent buildup from accumulating between visits.

What products do you use?

I primarily use low-tox, lower-fragrance products selected for both effectiveness and home comfort, including products such as Branch Basics and Sal Suds. Targeted disinfecting products are used when appropriate and according to their label directions. If anyone in your household has allergies, sensitivities, pets, or specific preferences, we can discuss those during the walkthrough.

Do you bring your own vacuum?

For most homes, I ask clients to provide their own vacuum. This helps prevent cross-contamination between homes, especially with pet hair and allergens. That said, I do have one I’m happy to bring if you’d prefer, or if yours isn’t working well. Just let me know what’s best for your space.

Logistics & Pricing

Do I need to be home during the cleaning?

No. Many clients provide a key, garage code, or other entry method, and we can talk through what feels most comfortable for you.

How often should my home be cleaned?

I offer biweekly and monthly maintenance, with weekly also available for households that want it. Biweekly is recommended for most homes (families, multiple occupants, shedding pets) since frequent visits keep buildup from setting back in. Monthly works well for lighter-use homes like single occupants, couples, or empty nesters. Your walkthrough will help determine which rhythm fits how you actually live in your home.

How does cleaning pricing work?

Pricing is personalized and quoted by the visit based on your home’s size, layout, condition, household, pets, service frequency, and the scope of care recommended during the walkthrough. Your proposal and pricing are confirmed before any work is scheduled.

Do you charge by the hour for cleaning?

No. Recurring maintenance (including foundation visits), Kitchen & Bath Upkeep, Small Space Deep Cleaning, and Move-In & Move-Out Cleaning are all quoted by the visit rather than by the hour. Mother’s Helper is the one hourly service, since the scope is more variable.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Rescheduling is preferred and complimentary whenever possible, subject to availability. Cancellation terms apply when a reserved visit is cancelled rather than moved: cancellations made more than 24 hours before the appointment are charged 50% of the visit fee, while cancellations within 24 hours, no-shows, and lockouts are charged the full visit fee.
